SLEMCO Workers Restore Power East of Baton Rouge
Nineteen SLEMCO employees left immediately after Hurricane Katrina made landfall,
heading for eastern Louisiana to help restore power in the area served by DEMCO,
another Louisiana electric cooperative.

The group hauled a variety of equipment including several line
trucks, pole trailers and ATV vehicles. They are expected
to work in the DEMCO area for at least a week as power is restored
to the storm ravaged area.
SLEMCO provides electric power to 85,000 homes and business in Acadia, Avoyelles,
Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion Parishes.
