SLEMCO’s Annual Meeting Set For Saturday June 4th
SLEMCO’s 67th annual membership meeting is expected to
attract more than ten thousand people Saturday to Lafayette’s
Cajundome. Doors will open at 6 a.m. and the entire meeting
will be over by noon.
One lucky SLEMCO customer will drive home in a brand new car
or truck provided by Lafayette Motors, 20 of the nearly 1,400
college students who successfully applied will win $2,000 each
in scholarship money and 26 other customers will go home with
valuable prizes such as television sets, microwave ovens, video
cassette recorders and much, much more.
Kip Sonnier and Hurricane will begin playing music requests
at 6:30 a.m. Lafayette General Medical Center will conduct
a health fair and balloon artists and face painting airbrush
artists will be on hand to entertain the young and the young
at heart. SLEMCO safety personnel will also be on hand
to teach everyone how to respect electricity.
All SLEMCO customers were mailed an invitation/prize entry stub
for the meeting and every SLEMCO customer is encouraged to attend
to see what has been going on with the company this last year.
Anyone needing a replacement card, should come to the Cajundome
on meeting day and a new one can be made for them at the Information
Table in the lobby.
SLEMCO, a member-owned electric company, serves more than 85,000
residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout Acadiana.
The annual SLEMCO meeting is the largest of its kind in the nation.
